Travelers In Chicago Support Trump's European Travel Ban

O'Hare Airport

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- President Trump’s travel ban from most of Europe is getting a thumbs-up from air travelers in Chicago on Thursday morning.

Terry O’Connor of Barrington thinks President Trump’s travel ban from Europe is a good move and that the President is just trying to keep Americans safe.

Omar Ghuyer, of Skokie, agrees.

"I think it's the safe way to go, honestly. There's a lot of people who think they can just travel anywhere they want while they have the coronavirus, and him doing this, I think it's good for the country," he said.

Deidre was headed to Palm Springs, California and also thinks the travel ban is the right thing to do.

"I think it’s a good idea. I think he’s making wise decisions so I’m really proud of him," she said.

Frequent traveler Dave Hutchinson of Pittsburgh agrees.

"We have to do everything we can to limit the spread of the virus. In fact, it's a concern on my mind now. I'm traveling for work and it's on my mind. I think I'm going to have to start shutting it down," he said.

But, Lionel Grandison of Plainfield thinks the President is acting too soon by banning travel from most of Europe.

"He’s overdoing it, I think, personally," he said.

As for concerns about travel in general with the coronavirus spreading, Paula Haywood of Florida looks at it this way.

"If it’s your time, it’s your time. So right now, we’re using the hand sanitizer, we're using wipes and wiping down everything, and washing our hands as often as possible," she said.

She does not believe she’s too much at risk of contracting COVID-19 by flying.

"I fly a lot, so I’m not concerned. Maybe if it gets worse and the numbers rise and deaths rise, and me not being in that age group and being pretty healthy, I feel pretty good about it."
