U.S. Automakers Firing Up Assembly Lines After 2-Month-Long Shutdown

U.S. automakers are starting to fire-up the assembly lines after a two-month-long shutdown.

"First and foremost, it's about personal protection equipment so that means everyone in our plant will be required to wear face masks as well as safety glasses. And then, when they get to their work stations, they're going to be asked to continue to sanitize their hands and keep good hygiene and they're going to be cleaning their work stations," Tinson told WBBM.

Meantime, Ford Motor Company’s Assembly Plant on Chicago’s South Side and the Stamping Plant in Chicago Heights are open again.

Due to COVID-19 precautions, all Ford employees must wear masks, practice social distancing and the automaker said it will now provide COVID-19 testing for symptomatic employees in four key metro areas, including Chicago.
