CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- WBBM is getting new digs ... sort of.

After more than 13 years in its old newsroom on the 11th floor at Two Prudential Plaza in the Loop, the all-news radio station moved to updated studios Thursday, just two floors down in the same building.

"We’re excited about our brand new facilities," said Ron Gleason, WBBM's director of news and programming. "We have new equipment, new studios, and a state-of-art newsroom to help us better serve Chicagoans on the air, online and on their phones."

WBBM Newsradio moved its studios to Two Prudential Plaza in May 2006 after spending decades at the old CBS Chicago headquarters at 630 N. McClurg Ct. The radio station, which shared the space with CBS 2 Chicago, began operating in that McClurg Court building in 1956. The building was demolished in early 2009 after CBS 2 moved to Block 37 at 22 W. Washington St. in 2008.

The new studio is a "nicer, brighter workspace" with improved technology, Gleason said.

Don't worry, nothing is changing on the air — we will just have more space and connectivity to keep bringing you news, traffic and weather.
