CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Wet snow is accumulating across the Chicago region Sunday morning, with unseasonably cold temperatures locked in until Monday.
The unexpectedly robust snowfall is also causing headaches for motorists traveling in the slick conditions.
Snow totals as of noon Sunday ranged from 6 inches in DeKalb, 3 inches at O'Hare International Airport to 1 inch in Schaumburg.
The city of Chicago’s Aviation Department said airlines at O’Hare had cancelled more than 500 flights, with some delays for arrivals and departures.
There were 47 cancellations at Midway.
A slight warmup on Monday will melt whatever snow sticks around. Temperatures will hit the 50s.
