WILMETTE, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Wilmette letter carrier has been removed from his route and is under investigation after he was caught on video tape kissing an elderly woman in her home.
The 89-year-old woman's son and daughter reported the incident to police after watching surveillance video, which shows the man coming to the house and asking the woman if she is alone before entering the house. The man, who police have not named yet, is caught on video telling her "I love you" numerous times. They are seen kissing and conversing before he leaves again.
The man has been stripped of his duties and is under investigation, officials said. Asked to comment on the investigation, officials with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service released a statement.
“The Postal Inspection Service is aware of the allegations against a Wilmette letter carrier and is investigating the matter,” it read.
