CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Pilsen woman tells WBBM she and her newborn girl are doing well after the baby was born on a CTA bus.
Guadalupe Lara said she and her husband dropped their children off at school Wednesday. As she was walking away, she realized her baby was about to come and they had to get to a hospital.
So, they got on the Ashland bus. As soon as she sat down, she told WBBM Newsradio, she knew the baby was coming.
That’s exactly what happened at Ashland and Cermak.
The father picked the baby up off the floor of the bus and wrapped her in something with the help of a passenger, the mother said.
Paramedics took mother and baby in two ambulances to University of Illinois Medical Center.
Guadalupe Lara said she and her new daughter, 7-pound Samantha, are doing well.
Samantha is under observation as a precaution.
