CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- World's Finest Chocolate is donating a sweet treat to healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of its Chocolate for Healthcare Heroes program, World's Finest Chocolate will donate Monday 6,000 chocolate bars to healthcare workers on the frontline at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital.

Earlier this month, World's Finest Chocolate announced its mission to donate 10 million chocolate bars to emergency responders, healthcare and frontline heroes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The company kicked off the initiative by donating 1 million bars to healthcare professionals and first responders across the country.

To reach its ultimate goal, they have now doubled the good customers can do with their chocolate. For each box purchased at www.WFCHealthcareHeroes.com, World's Finest Chocolate will donate a box to healthcare professionals as a small way to show its gratitude.

"We want to do a tremendous amount of good for those on the front lines fighting this crisis each and every day," said Eddie Opler, CEO, in a statement. "Over the past year, we've helped schools and youth organizations raise over $150 million. Now we are turning our heads and hearts to focus on taking care of all deserving healthcare heroes."
