CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A man is facing a felony weapon charge after getting a package delivered to his Bridgeport home containing two switches that turn handguns into fully automatic weapons.
Javeon Burton Allen, 22, is charged with one count of unlawful use of a machine gun or automatic weapon, according to a statement from the Cook County sheriff’s office.
Sheriff’s police were contacted by Homeland Security Investigations about a package containing the switches addressed to a “John Wick” at Burton Allen’s home in the 3100 block of South Green Street, the sheriff’s office said.
Authorities said Burton Allen has a valid FOID card.
Judge Susana L. Ortiz set Burton Allen’s bail at $1,000 during a hearing Wednesday at the Leighton Criminal Court Building, according to Cook County court records. His next court date was set for July 2.
A Calumet City man was charged after allegedly receiving a delivery of similar switches in April.
