CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Days after a man was arrested for last September’s shooting death of a Northwestern University graduate student, the victim’s brother is speaking out.
Dane Colombo’s brother Shane was caught in crossfire last September near Howard and Clark in Rogers Park.
Dane Colombo said this week’s arrest of Diante Speed, charged by prosecutors with the killing, brings some comfort and relief to the family.
"It does, it helps our mom...it's a closure I guess," he said.
Colombo said he’s grateful that police kept looking for his brother’s killer, and he said he’s looking forward to seeing his brother’s accused killer face justice.
"I had faith that they would eventually catch the guy," he said.
Colombo said his brother had only arrived from Southern California hours before his killing, as he was preparing to begin his doctoral studies at Northwestern.
