The holidays are approaching, which means more gatherings, festivities and food. Trying to eat healthy during the holidays can be a struggle with all of the tempting pies, casseroles, and stuffing. ,

While it's ok to indulge on your favorite foods in moderation,
here are some tips to help you stay on track with healthy eating during the holidays.

Make a Plan
You may be served food that you would not have otherwise chosen, or find it difficult to stray away from tempting treats. Coming up with a plan can help.
- If you're invited to a party, offer to bring a healthy dish.
- If you decide to have a sweet treat, cut back on other carbs.
- Don't skip meals to save up for the big feast. This will make you more prone to overeating.
- If you slip up, get right back on track with your next meal.

Make Healthy Choices
When faced with multiple options, opt for a healthier spread.
- Start with vegetables to help with your appetite.
- Eat slowly. It takes at least 20 minutes for your brain to realize you're full.
- Have a small plate of the foods you like best and then fill the rest of your plates with healthy choices.

Eat Your Favorite Foods in Moderation
As stated earlier, you can have any food in moderation. Choose the dishes you really love and savor them in small servings.

Keep Moving
Did you know that walking after eating aids digestion? Try inviting your friends and family to join you on a walk after your meal. Being active is your secret holiday weapon. It can help make up for eating more than usual.

Get Enough Sleep
When you're sleep deprived, you'll tend to eat more and prefer high-fat, high-sugar foods. Aim for 7 to 8 hours per night to guard against mindless eating.
