CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Parking could be challenging at a popular destination this Memorial Day weekend.
Rachel Torbert of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources said flooding has forced the closing of some parking lots at Starved Rock State Park near Oglesby in LaSalle County.
"The lower parking lots at Starved Rock State Park are currently underwater, which means they will be closed," she said.
That means about 650 fewer parking spaces at the park.
Torbert said people who want to visit Starved Rock this weekend should plan on getting there early and check updates on the Illinois Department of Natural Resources’ Facebook and Twitter pages to increase their chances of finding parking spots.
