PHOTOS: Meet Kashyyyk - One Of Brookfield Zoo's African Painted Dog Puppies
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Hey Chicago, meet Kashyyyk!
Brookfield Zoo asked the public to help name one of its 4-month-old African painted dog puppies by submitting their votes on its website. For the past two weeks more than 5,200 votes were cast and the winning name is Kashyyyk, pronounced KA-sheek,—a planet in Star Wars.
Animal care staff describe Kashyyyk as being very curious and rather brave. He can be identified by the two distinguishable black rings on his tail that has a white tip.
According to the zoo, the puppies currently weigh between 30 and 35 pounds. They spend a lot of time playing, but with the warmer weather, sleeping in a big pile in the sun has become a favorite activity. They also have been taking advantage of the pool in their yard.
