Man Charged With Criminal Damage To Police Vehicles

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A man was charged Wednesday with the damage of Chicago police vehicles and businesses in the South Loop.

Jerlandus Terrell, 33, of Austin, faces a felony count of criminal damage to government property and three misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property, Chicago police said.

Terrell was arrested about 3:35 p.m. Wednesday in the 1100 block of North Austin Avenue after being identified as the person seen on surveillance video damaging the outside of a restaurant in the 1500 block of South State Street about 2:35 a.m. that morning, police said.

During an interview with officers he admitted to also damaging several Chicago police vehicles and other vehicles parked outside of the 1st District police station, 1718 S. State St., Wednesday morning, police said.

Terrell, who remains in custody, is expected in bond court Thursday.
