CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayor Lightfoot isn't answering a call from a police union to apologize for a remark that was caught on a hot mic.

National Frateral Order of Police President Chuck Canterbury called on Mayor Lightfoot to apologize for calling second vice president Patrick Murray "this is that FOP clown" during Wednesday's City Council meeting. The remark was picked up by a hot microphone and broadcast over the live stream of the city council meeting.

Mayor Lightfoot said the past is in the past.

"Yeah there is no more to say about that. I said what I said the other day, something I should not have said out loud and I think we have bigger fish to fry," she said.

She made the comments during a presentation at the Chicago Lighthouse for the blind on the West Side. Lightfoot is in the midst of negotiating a new contract with the police union. Their last contract expired two years ago.
