CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Hundreds of medical school students across the Chicago area learned about the next step in their careers today.
It's Match Day, the day when students find out the location of their medical residency.
Medical students list their preferred destinations. They go through a round of interviews. A computer algorithm then matches the student with a hospital based on their preferences. The results are placed in sealed envelopes.
While he was taking part in Match Day in Chicago, his brother was opening an envelope at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
"My mom is down here with me. My dad is up there with him. So we were FaceTiming my brother and my dad the moment I opened the envelope, so they got to be with me during that moment," Rahman said.
He's not going very far. He was assigned to Rush University Medical Center.
