CTA Says Bus Ridership Is Rising
Terry Keshner

The CTA says more Chicagoans are hopping on the bus.

Chicago Transit Authority acting president Nora Leerhsen said at this week's Chicago Transit Board meeting that bus ridership is now up to 90-percent of pre-COVID levels and also noted that "we're going to make even more investments in bus service with four more routes...starting this fall. And this summer we're going to have later nighttime service and more weekend service on routes across to help everyone enjoy Chicago's summertime activities."

Leerhsen also says the city's buses and trains are getting safer, noting that, "crime continues to drop across the CTA. In fact (crime) is down for the fifth straight month...with notable drops across eight of the last ten months."
