A dog that was found following the violent weather two weeks ago in Gary has been re-united with the original owner who lost the dog 12-years-ago.
A storm recovery worker from out-of-state found the chihuahua and brought her to the Griffith Animal Shelter.
She had been micro-chipped.
They came up with the name, Flor, and the owner's name.
And the woman was ultimately tracked down in Evanston.
A lot of people got involved, including an organization called Microchip Hunters, which is credited with finding the owner.
A volunteer with the Evanston Animal Shelter drove to Griffith and brought the dog to Evanston.
"They were reunited at the Evanston Animal Shelter and the owner was just, like, was so overcome, there was not a dry eye in the room, it was such a great moment," said Maddie Ratkowski, with the shelter.

She said this is a good example of what micro-chipping can do.
There's another twist.
A woman who saw a social media post about the dog said she took in flor last year.
She rescues animals and said the dog had been with another family that lived next door for years.
They were moving and couldn't keep her, she said, and the dog slipped out after the storm.
She said she's happy about the ending and she hopes to visit the dog.
They've become attached.
