A two-year-old child has died and a mother was hospitalized following what police are calling a “domestic-related homicide” in a home on Tuesday afternoon.
Police were called to a home on Brook Stone Court just after 4 p.m. for a report of an unresponsive juvenile.
They found an unresponsive 2-year-old.
CPR was performed and, according to police, the child was taken to a hospital and was later pronounced dead.
How the child was killed police have not said.
But it is a murder investigation.
A statement from Chief Leanne Chelepis says officers located the child’s mother in the home and she “was attempting self-harm.”
She was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The chief called this a “domestic-related homicide.”
Her statement reads, in part: “Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragedy. We encourage our community to support one another with compassion, understanding, and strength as we navigate this difficult time together.” She said the incident remains under investigation.
