As America celebrates its 250th anniversary on July 4, the city of Highland Park remembers the mass shooting that happened there four years ago. And a local nonprofit formerly known as the Highland Park Peace Project is launching a new national PSA aimed at companies supporting gun manufacturers.

"Quite literally, the difference between life and death comes down to where you stand," the new national PSA organized by Highland Park Nonprofit HP3 One Step Away, says.

The organization says when weapons spray bullets into crowds, survivors are many times one step away from the slain...as they were four years ago. But organizers say standing up to the manufacturers of the weapons is not enough.

The PSA notes, "That’s why we’re taking action by targeting the companies that do business with them… those one step away."

The nonprofit aims to combat the gun violence epidemic through an economic lens, Championing procurement activism, to ultimately shift the behavior of companies supporting gun manufacturers.
