PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Pittsburgh Public Schools confirms an "inappropriate homework assignment" was given to 1st grade students at Linden PreK-5.

An image of the reading exercise posted on social media features a story about two boys running from a police officer who tells a K-9 officer to "get" the boys.

In a Twitter post, the school district says "the worksheet is not part of the District's curriculum" and an investigation is underway on "the source of the materials."

The person responsible for the handout has not been identified because the district says it' a personnel matter.
