Joliet Catholic Academy leaders met with neighbors on Wednesday to discuss plans for a new football stadium.
About 100 people attended a community meeting at the academy, where plans were detailed for the stadium and other improvements, including new tennis courts.
Traffic seems to be the biggest concern.
The new stadium would seat about 5,500 people.
Plans call for expanded parking.
The school’s president and principal, Dr. Jeffrey Budz said the first game could be played in two years, depending on fundraising, according to the Herald News.
They’d like to break ground in the spring.
They still need approval from the city.
Ryan Quigley, the institutional advancement director noted during the meeting JCA is “the only Will County high school without a multi-purpose turf field.”
Football games are currently played at Memorial Stadium. With a capacity of 10,000.
Quigley said most games draw crowds of 3,000 or less.
