ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - BackStoppers has never seen a fundraising effort like this.

On Thursday morning from 6 a.m. to noon, Amy Marxkors, co-host of the Charlie Brennan Show with Amy Marxkors will run, keep running and never stop running for a full six hours. She's doing it to raise money for the organization that provides for the families of first responders who are killed in the line of duty.

Her total funds raised are already at $26,140, but she's pushing for more! She's set a new goal of $30,000!

Marxkors says by the end of her six-hour run she'll likely have ran between 40-45 miles. She's completed more than 18 marathons and even ran 36 miles to celebrate her 36th birthday last year.

Her run for BackStoppers was announced on Oct. 22 and since then she's discussed the importance of the organization and why it means so much to her.

"One of the things that moves me most is that BackStoppers isn't just a check to those families," Marxkors says. "Yes, they provide critical financial support, but they also step in and expand the family. They go to the kids' baseball games, they sit down and the table and talk with the spouse about financial planning for college or what debt do you have that they need to take care of. And that type of help is critical."

Be listening to KMOX 1120 AM all morning Thursday for updates on Marxkors' run and hear more stories about the work BackStoppers does.
