1 dead, child critically injured following crash on DuSable Lake Shore Drive

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — One person is dead and a boy was left clinging to life after a crash on DuSable Lake Shore Drive about 3:30 Saturday morning.

Chicago Police said a man was driving southbound on the 4600 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive when a tire on his vehicle blew out. The driver lost control and hit a tree.

The driver sustained multiple injuries and was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A second victim, an 11-year-old boy who was a passenger in the vehicle, sustained blunt force trauma to the head and body and was hospitalized in critical condition.

The crash is being investigated.
