1 killed, 2 injured in SW suburbs after car plunges into water: Sheriff

WILL COUNTY (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - One person has died and two others were hurt after a car crashed overnight into a southwest suburban creek.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office said the accident occurred at around 2:10 a.m. in the Lemont area, near 135th and Archer. It’s unclear what caused the incident, but law enforcement found the vehicle had veered off the road and was submerged in the water.

Three people were inside the car. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition, while the person suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
