AURORA (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Building officials in Aurora continue to investigate a weekend porch collapse that left 10 people injured.

The Aurora Fire Department said crews responded Saturday, shortly after 5:15 p.m., to a multi-unit apartment building in the 700 block of S. Lincoln Avenue. The fire department received a report that a second floor porch attached to the building had collapsed after being occupied by multiple people.

When crews arrived at the scene, they found 10 people hurt. After triaging the victims, the fire department said, seven of the victims, including a one-month-old baby, were transported to area hospitals. Of those sent to the hospital, three suffered serious but not life threatening injuries. The other four were described in good condition.

There were three victims who were treated and released at the scene, the fire department said.

Due to no safe access to the second floor, Aurora code officials have deemed the apartment building’s upper units to be uninhabitable.

The fire department said displaced residents are staying with family.
