Whether you love or hate it, Christmas music creates an atmosphere of nostalgia and warmth every year.
The 12 Days of Christmas is a holiday classic and tale of Christian theology. Contrary to popular belief, the 12 Days of Christmas begins on Christmas Day and ends on Jan. 6. The 12 days are significant in the holy holiday as it symbolizes the days between the birth of Christ and the arrival of the three wise men.
The song is believed to have French origins, yet the first printed appearance was published in 1780 in the English children's book "Mirth With-out Mischief." Today, the song is a continuous repetition of joy and cheer.
Our newsroom decided to spread our own holiday cheer with a Chicago version of the classic jingle. Stay tuned for video of our staff singing along to our very own version.
