CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A handful of teen girls were hurt in a shooting at a party Saturday night in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood.
The teens were among the 42 wounded by gun violence in the city this weekend while five others have died.
The victims were part of a group standing on the sidewalk near Ohio Street and Lavergne Avenue at around 11:40 pm., Chicago police said, when someone in a dark SUV fired at them.
The girls, who are ages 13, 14 and 15, were hit in the backside and taken to the hospital. Police said the oldest girl also had a graze wound to the head. Relatives drove a 12-year-old girl to the hospital with a hand wound. A 19-year-old woman was hit in the back. All are in fair condition.
Police said a 25-year-old man walked in to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the backside. He was treated and released.
No one is in custody.
