(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago Police are investigating a shooting last night in South Shore that left a child dead.
Officers were called to an apartment near 71st Street and Constance Avenue shortly before 7 p.m.
Police say they found a 12-year-old girl had shot herself in the stomach. They believe the shooting was an accident.
Paramedics took her to the hospital, where she died.
Police found the gun in the home that had other children in it at the time of the shooting.
The Medical Examiner has identified the girl as Priscilla McCullough.
Dispatch reports say the girl’s mother is the one who found her.
