
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged following an early morning break-in at a Marengo gun store Saturday.
Shortly before 4:30 a.m., Marengo police officers were alerted to “some suspicious subjects” who were reportedly hiding near Marengo’s Guns. When officers arrived, authorities said they found two subjects standing near a broken front window to the business.
Officials said the two people ran away from the and got into a nearby vehicle, which was already running and was later determined to be stolen.
Police from Marengo and Woodstock, as well as sheriff’s deputies from McHenry County and Boone County, set up a perimeter around the gun store.
At about 5 a.m., the 16-year-old was caught trying to leave the area. He was charged with five felonies, including burglary, criminal damage to a property, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and unlawful use of a weapon.
