WOOD DALE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The Department of Homeland Security is investigating after potentially dangerous substances were seized in a Chicago suburb earlier this month.
Two different kinds of unidentified powder, totaling more than 1,000 pounds, were seized in Wood Dale. The first was revealed to be BMK methyl Glycidate, which is used to make methamphetamine. The other powder was identified as Benzocaine, a cutting agent for cocaine.
U.S. Customers and Border Protection intercepted a shipping container carrying 26 boxes of the bags of powdery substances. The samples were sent to CBP for evaluation.
The agency said the shipment from China was en route to Wood Dale.
