(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Two people have been charged in the shooting death of a 77-year-old Fox Lake resident.
The victim, Roy Hoffman, was found dead in his apartment along Mineola Road Monday evening. A witness told police they saw a man and a woman flee the scene in a white minivan, which was later tracked to Round Lake, police said.
Tuesday, authorities announced charges against two residents of that community. Azmi Ibrahim, Jr, 37, faces two counts of first-degree murder and one count of obstructing justice. Kathryn A. Deason, 31, was charged with one count of obstructing justice.
Authorities say Ibrahim drove Deason to the home of Hoffman, who was to pay for a "romantic relationship" with the woman. Ibrahim allegedly entered the apartment with a rifle and fatally shot Hoffman over a disagreement.
Ibrahim and Deason were slated to make court appearances. The investigation continues, and additional charges are possible, officials said.
