
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Fire in an apartment building in the South Shore neighborhood Monday night left two firefighters and a resident injured.
The fire broke out in a second floor unit in the three-story building on the 1400 block of East 69th Place. There was heavy smoke and fire when firefighters arrived.
Two people had already jumped. At one point, there was a mayday call. Firefighters needed help. Communication had been briefly lost, according to the department.
All were accounted for.
Two firefighters were treated for injuries described as minor. One resident was hospitalized in good condition.
The building is not inhabitable. The cause is under investigation.
