2 hurt, 1 critically, in stabbing on CTA Red Line platform: CPD

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A fight that was partly witnessed by police on a CTA platform sent two men to the hospital Monday night, one in critical condition.

Police responded to what they say was a disturbance on the platform at  the Red Line stop at Grand Avenue. They found the two men in a physical struggle.

The two had a verbal altercation on a train, according to police, and it escalated when they got off.

One, who’s 31, produced what they’re calling a sharp object.

The other man, who’s 48, police said, sustained multiple lacerations to the back and neck. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital initially in critical condition.

The 31-year-old had lacerations to his hands. He was taken to Rush University Medical Center in fair condition.

Police said charges against him are pending.
