(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Lake County Illinois Sheriff's Office says two high-risk people were found less than 24-hours after being reported missing.

“Two very high risk individuals left their residents on foot in extreme cold. Got lost, disoriented and were located by sheriff's deputies and local law enforcement leading to their lives being saved,” Lake County Sheriff's Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said.

Covelli said a 60-year-old man with cognitive disabilities was reported missing from Wadsworth late Friday night.

“At daybreak, we organized a search through our criminal investigations division with neighboring agencies as well. Fortunately, one of the assisting agencies, the Lake County Forest Preserve Police, located the man right on the fringe of the forest preserve property.”

Hours later, a 77-year-old woman with multiple cognitive disabilities went missing from her home in unincorporated Antioch.

She was found nearby lying in the back of a car.

Both the man and woman were treated for cold exposure and are expected to make full recoveries.
