(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Two are now facing charges after two women were shot and a chase involving multiple police agencies in Lake County, Illinois early Sunday morning.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to the area of Green Bay Road and Bonny Brook Lane in Beach Park following a report of a vehicle crash and a shooting, and they found a vehicle in a ditch with extensive damage.

Two women passengers had been shot, one in the eye, the other in the leg.

A deputy applied a tourniquet to the woman's leg, helping save her life. Both women were taken to hospitals and they're expected to survive.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victims had left a bar in North Chicago and were driving home when a driver in a gray Dodge pulled up alongside and opened fire.

Police spotted that suspect vehicle and a chase began.

The driver in the Dodge Charger was able to evade police several times.

Police eventually used a tire deflation device, and the car crashed in Zion.

Two people ran off, a man and a juvenile. The pair was caught and guns were recovered, according to officials.

Jonathan Garcia, 18, and a 16-year-old from Waukegan have been charged with two counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Police believed that the car was stolen from Wisconsin, but an investigation into that is still taking place.

The sheriff's office also believes that a third suspect, who was driving the vehicle, avoided arrest.
