(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Two police officers from south suburban Phoenix have been indicted on federal criminal charges.
They’re identified as 34-year-old Jarrett Snowden of Lansing and 46-year-old Antoine Larry of Bolingbrook.
Charges against them include bribery, conspiracy, extortion and attempted extortion.
The indictment alleges the pair used “their official powers” to rob and extort people they pulled over in Phoenix and Harvey. It’s alleged they stole cash, drugs and firearms during traffic stops and demanded cash payments in exchange for ignoring criminal acts by “reducing or dropping charges.”
The indictment says a “bag man” would sometimes be used to handle money, and some alleged victims were ordered to meet the officers at a gas station to make payments. The incidents allegedly occurred in 2020 and 2021.
Snowden is a Sergeant. Larry is a patrol officer.
Both are on unpaid administrative leave.
