(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Federal prosecutors say nine Chicago street gang members are accused of bringing guns into the city —part of a scheme led by three Army soldiers.
This centers on an area of the South Side known as Pocket Town and on the gang members whose activities are in that area.
A newly unsealed indictment accuses the nine gang members of gun-running. The indictment says three U.S. Army soldiers headed up that scheme.
WGN-TV reports federal authorities started looking at the three soldiers one year ago, after a mass shooting left one man dead and seven others wounded on the Southwest Side.
All of the service members are stationed at Fort Campbell on the Kentucky-Tennessee line, almost 400 miles from Chicago.
