3 children among 4 hurt in South Side crash: CPD

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A two-car crash on the South Side Monday morning left four people hurt, including 3 children.

Chicago Police said the accident occurred near 59th and Hoyne, shortly before 6:20 a.m.

A  black Jeep SUV was trying to west onto 59th Street when it was hit by a black Volkswagen SUV, police said.

The driver of the Jeep, a 26-year-old woman, suffered injuries and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center. Police said her condition was not yet known.

Her three passengers, all children, were hurt. Two boys, ages 10 and 4, and a girl, 8, were rushed to Comer Children’s Hospital. Their conditions were unclear.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 63-year-old man, refused medical attention at the scene.

Police did not provide any other information.
