CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Three Chicago police officers were injured following a chase of a suspect that ended on the Eisenhower Expressway late Monday night.

The three officers have been hospitalized but are reported to be in good condition, according to Chicago police.

It began just after 11:40 p.m., when a CPD helicopter was following a Dodge Charger that was driving recklessly, northbound on California. Police said the Charger then struck a Nissan sedan and a Kia Optima in an intersection, injuring the 20-year-old female driver of the Kia. She was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, according to Chicago Fire.

Following the crash near California and Harrison, the 23-year-old male driver of the Charger then fled on foot, running onto the Eisenhower. The man was shortly thereafter apprehended by police and placed into custody.

It was during the pursuit on the Eisenhower that an unmarked police vehicle carrying three officers was struck by another car.

Police said they recovered two guns and narcotics from the Dodge Charger.

No other injuries were reported.
