CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Three people were hospitalized following a late afternoon fire at a Chicago Housing Authority seniors high-rise.
According to the Chicago Fire Department, crews responded to the North Side apartment building on Sheridan near Leland in the 5 p.m. hour Tuesday. Flames were coming from the fourth floor.
The fire was elevated to a two-alarm. Firefighters were able to put out the blaze at the Ella Flagg Young Apartments with a single hose line.
Three people were sent to an area hospital with injuries. Two were described in critical condition, while a third was in fair condition.
CBS-2 reported most of the building’s residents were not displaced.
Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
