SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A fire in a senior apartment complex in Schaumburg sent two residents and two firefighters to hospitals Friday afternoon.

The fire started on a porch at the Emerald Village Senior Living Apartments at 150 W. Wise Road.

The Schaumburg Fire Department said it quickly spread to two units. Some residents were rescued by a ladder truck. Others were helped out of the building by firefighters and police officers.

Deputy Police Chief Shawn Green spoke to CBS 2.

"All we know is that it happened on one of the fourth-floor units, and it quickly spread into the other unit," he said.

There were no serious injuries. Aside from the two units impacted by the fire, several others had smoke and water damage.
