CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago police are investigating a string of armed robberies on the North Side Monday night in which four men were held up over a span of 90 minutes.

Police offer similar descriptions in all the cases: Three men or boys got out of a black SUV and took the victims' phones and wallets at gunpoint as they walked on the sidewalk.

The first happened at 10:30 p.m. in Northalsted, near Roscoe and Elaine Place, then Lakeside Place and Sheridan in Uptown,  Berteau and Greenwood in North Center and finally Long and George in Portage Park at midnight.

The Uptown victim,  a 51-year-old  man, had his groceries stolen as well.

Police said no one was injured and no one is in custody.

Through Saturday, Chicago police department statistics revealed that 7,544 people have been robbed this year, a 42% jump from the same time last year.
