CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A celebration of all things Puerto Rican is set to take over Humboldt Park next week.

The annual Puerto Rican Fest starts Thursday, June 6 with a free community day featuring music, dance performances, games, food and a carnival.

New this year is a 20-foot art installation of the island where people can find their towns and learn more about the history of that area. There will also be a 60-foot-long photo maze perfect for selfies and a youth area to promote young artists and entrepreneurs, some of whom will be selling their goods.

As for entertainment, Cristina Vera with the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance said organizers are promising quite the lineup for the 4-day event.

“The musical artists include Caña Brava, Charlie Cruz, Andy Montañez, Tony Veqaquez, and Paquito Acosta, along with 25 local Puerto Rican DJs,” Vera announced.

For those who look forward to the big parade, it's set to step off on the stretch of Division known as “Paseo Boricua,” at 2 p.m., Saturday June 8.

Puerto Rican Fest runs through June 9.
