CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Five children were hospitalized Thursday night for smoke inhalation in a home in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood.

The initial call was for multiple sick people in a residence on the 7600 block of South Damen Avenue. An EMS Plan 1 was called, sending five ambulances.

The Chicago Fire Department reported that there was no fire and “this was a result of smoke inhalation from cooking.”

The children were transported to hospitals. Their conditions were not considered life-threatening.

There is no information on what was being cooked or any other details at this time.
