CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A bicyclist was fatally struck on the North Side Monday night.
Police said a 59-year-old man was riding his bike north on Damen, near Winona, shortly before 8 p.m., when he was hit head-on by a car traveling in the same direction.
The bicyclist suffered critical injuries, including head trauma, and was transported to Illinois Masonic Medical Center. He died a short time later.
The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and will be issued traffic citations, police said.
CPD’s Major Accidents division will continue to investigate the incident.
