5th arson reported in Far South Side neighborhood, all within 2 blocks of each other: Police

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Police are warning residents on the city’s Far South Side following a wave of arsons.

Five cases of arson have been reported in the Burnside neighborhood since June of last year. The most recent one happened earlier this month near 91st and Avalon, just two blocks from four other incidents.

Police believe the fires are connected, since each case involves fences, garages and trash cans and alleyways.

The arson suspect, described as being a man and 20 to 27-years-old.

No one is in custody.
