CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Armed robbers hit several liquor stores and restaurants on Chicago’s North and Northwest Sides Thursday night.

The first happened just after 9:30 p.m. on Western near Winnemac.  Police said two gunmen held up a food and liquor store, taking cash from the business and wallets from two customers.

Police said similar hold ups happened in West Rogers Park and Rogers Park, between that time and midnight, at restaurants, liquor and convenience stores.

In one case, police said one of three armed men or young men held up a liquor store near Jarvis and Western, shot at an employee who returned fire.

No one was wounded and the robbers took off in a silver SUV.

Police said the getaway car in most of the other cases was a dark colored sedan.
