BUFFALO GROVE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A pedestrian crash at a busy northwest suburban intersection left an 87-year-old man dead.
The Village of Buffalo Grove said the accident occurred around 8 a.m. at the intersection of Buffalo Grove Road and Larraway Drive. A gray Toyota sedan was traveling southbound on Buffalo Grove Road when it hit a pedestrian.
The male pedestrian, identified as a 87-year-old, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, village officials said. But, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the Toyota, a 60-year-old woman, was sent to Northwest Community as a precaution.
Buffalo Grove Police as well as the Lake County Major Crash Assistance are investigating the crash. No traffic citations nor criminal charges have been filed.
As part of their investigation, a stretch of Buffalo Grove Road was shut down for nearly four hours.
