A Canada goose has chosen an unusual spot to raise her babies. This Mother’s Day WBBM’s Nancy Harty reports workers at a Peoples Gas facility on the north side are thrilled to have them as guests.
The two-story building at Peterson and Pulaski that sits across the street from the North Park Village Nature Center has a green roof.
"The greenery and grass on the roof helps to naturally cool the building, and it also turns out, has an additional environmental bonus that we are additionally proud of," said Peoples Gas spokesman David Schwartz.
Schwartz says its there that a Canada goose has made a nest for the past three years.

"Canadian geese, we've read, do tend to go to the same spot to nest and lay eggs each year. That often happens, so we think it's the same goose," he said.
He says employees at the North Shop are careful not to disturb the mother and her seven goslings, who are frequently joined by what they believe is the father. Schwartz says workers share pictures of the family like proud parents themselves.
