Manny's deli, an iconic South Loop Chicago restaurant, has announced it's jumping in to help fill the gap and offering free meals starting on Monday to anyone who shows their SNAP benefits card.
Owner Danny Raskin says customers dining in or taking out will receive first on Monday a chicken meal, "For almost 85 years, Chicago has been there for us, and we want to be there for them."
Raskin says the Jewish deli is still working out the details, "We're actively planning for the rest of the week, but we're actually hoping that for everybody in this country, that on SNAP, that they resolved this."
A pair of judges ruled the Trump administration must continue to pay for food assistance. The President posted on social media he's instructed lawyers to ask the Court to clarify how the government can quote, ''legally fund SNAP as soon as possible."
